Canada is one of the happiest countries in the world! But we didn’t need a study to tell us that.

The World Happiness Report, which was published Wednesday, ranked 156 countries by happiness levels, based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption.

Topping the list is Finland followed by Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland. Meanwhile, the US ranked 14th, dropping down four spots from last year.

This year’s report, released a week before World Happiness Day, highlighted that the happiness index is closely tied to how immigrants of a country feel. It explained that countries with the happiest immigrants aren’t the necessarily more wealthy, but they tend to offer a balanced lifestyle and social services!

The World Happiness Report evaluates their data on a scale running from 0 to 10. The rankings, which are based on surveys in countries covering the three years 2015-2017. Canada also came in at 7th place last year soooooooo, it looks like we continue to be a happy country!
